Hello!

Thanks for visiting. My name is Lisa Stine. I am currently a high school educator with eleven years of classroom experience, and I also have a master’s degree in Professional and Technical Writing.
My years of experience in the classroom have given me expertise in designing and implementing curriculum and instructional materials, communicating ideas and information clearly, creating assessments, analyzing data to improve learning outcomes, and collaborating with a team.
In my role as a journalism educator, I advise our school’s state and national award-winning yearbook and newspaper staffs, which has meant training students in writing, editing, photography, graphic design, and Adobe software, among other skills. They utilize these skills to fulfill an approximately $100,000 yearly publishing contract for a 400-page yearbook and maintain a news website. While training and motivating teenagers to meet monthly 80-page deadlines is not always easy, I enjoy it and feel energized by the challenge.
My master’s degree in Professional and Technical Writing allowed me to expand my communications expertise and gain even more passion for the field. Courses such as Writing for Business and Government, Rhetorical Theory, Language Theory, Document Design, and Science Writing were especially influential. A portfolio of my work in the program is available at the link above.
